Alex Y. Chang, M.D.

Dr. Alex Chang joins the Johns Hopkins Singapore team from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, where he was professor of oncology. As a Johns Hopkins University senior faculty member, Dr. Chang comes to Singapore with more than 20 years experience in cancer treatment and research, particularly in the areas of breast and lung cancer as well as new modality therapy. He has also served on the board of the American Cancer Society. Dr. Chang is the Chief Executive Officer and Medical Director at Johns Hopkins Singapore International Medical Centre where he oversees the medical management for both outpatients and inpatients.
David S. Ettinger, M.D.

Dr. David Ettinger is the Alex Grass Professor of Oncology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. He is also a professor of medicine, otolaryngology, head and neck surgery, gynecologic and obstetrics, and radiation oncology and molecular radiation sciences. He has been a faculty member at Johns Hopkins for over 30 years. Dr. Ettinger's research interests are in new drug development and innovative multidisciplinary treatment strategies in lung cancer and sarcomas.
He is a member of the board of directors of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) as well as a member of the NCCN Guidelines Steering Committee. In addition, he has been chairman of the NCCN non-small cell lung cancer practice guidelines panel, antiemetic practice guidelines panel, and occult primary tumor practice guidelines panel.
Dr. Ettinger is currently the Johns Hopkins Singapore International Medical Centre's Associate Medical Director.
Mr. Lawrence Patrick has spent the past 7 years of his career working in an international setting promoting the Johns Hopkins mission in the Middle East and South East Asia.
Lawrence currently serves as the General Manager for Johns Hopkins Singapore, the coordinating organization for Johns Hopkins activities in Singapore that includes providing administrative coordination to both clinical and research operations.
He is also Managing Director with the Global Collaborations Group of Johns Hopkins Medicine International, the organization within the family of Johns Hopkins Medicine, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and the Johns Hopkins Health System, charged with advancing the tradition of teaching, research and patient care throughout the world.
Lawrence earned a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from the University of Washington and later a Master's Degree in Health Administration from the Medical College of Virginia.
Mr. Sinan Sanvar joined Johns Hopkins Singapore in 2006 as the Director of Operations. Prior to joining Johns Hopkins, Sinan has spent 7 years at the Cleveland Clinic where he was primarily responsible for the financial management of the Cleveland Clinic International as well as providing management support on several international projects.
In his capacity as the Director of Operations at Johns Hopkins Singapore, he manages and oversees the overall operations of the International Medical Center and provides administrative support on regional and international projects.
Sinan graduated from the Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and also has a Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration from the Medical College of Virginia.

Lavina D. Bharwani, M.D.

Dr. Lavina Bharwani has been a consultant with Johns Hopkins Singapore since September 1, 2006. Prior to joining Hopkins, Dr. Bharwani was an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology/Oncology at Baylor College of Medicine in the USA.
She was trained in Internal Medicine as well as Hematology/Oncology at Baylor and is American Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology. Dr. Bharwani comes to Singapore highly recommended and regarded by her colleagues in the USA. Dr. Bharwani’s areas of interest include breast cancer, gynecologic and gastrointestinal malignancies.

Troy Sullivan, M.D.

Dr. Troy Sullivan joins the Johns Hopkins faculty from private practice in the U.S.A.
He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia and completed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Michigan. Dr. Sullivan has been involved in the practice of Internal Medicine for ten years in California and Georgia. He enjoys a broad interest in patient care. His focus will be to develop general medical services for the patients of Johns Hopkins Singapore.

Gilberto de Lima Lopes, Jr., M.D.

Dr Gilberto Lopes joined the Johns Hopkins Singapore International Medical Centre in August 2006 as a Consultant Oncologist. Prior to that he was awarded Fellow of theYear at the Division of Hematology / Oncology, Sylvester Cancer Center, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Before his fellowship, Dr Lopes was Chief Medical Resident and Clinical Instructor at the Miami Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami Florida, USA.
Dr Lopes has received numerous awards, including the Amgen Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Award and the Chief Resident Award by the Florida Chapter of the American College of Physicians, as well as a grant for Scientific Initiation from the Brazilian National Research Council (CNPq) while he worked with the South American Office for new Anticancer Drug Development (SOAD).
With a special interest in thoracic, gastrointestinal and breast malignancies, Dr. Gilberto Lopes is an active clinical researcher and has authored many scientific papers and abstracts as well as review articles and book chapters on Oncology. He is also fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, English and French, and has basic knowledge of Italian.
