In the dynamic world of medicine, physicians are challenged to stay informed and connected to information and colleagues that can help them provide better care to their patients and advance the science of medicine. Video teleconferencing technology (VTC) is an effective and efficient method to solve this problem for both physicians and their patients.

Lecture Topics

Description of Services
International physicians and institutions can use VTC technology with Johns Hopkins Medicine in the following ways:

  • GlobalAccess Lecture Series:  Johns Hopkins faculty and administrators are available to deliver live lectures upon request on a particular clinical or health management topic.  Sessions last 60 minutes, including a 15-minute question and answer period.  Most lectures are in English, some are available in other languages.  Contact us for a selected list of topics.
  • Colleague Information Exchange:  International physicians can request a videoconference session with a colleague at Johns Hopkins to discuss, in real time, challenging patient cases, treatment protocols, or research ideas.

VTC Technology Requirements
To establish videoconference communication with Johns Hopkins International, organizations will need a video conferencing unit compliant with the H320 international standard.  This equipment establishes interoperability to video conferencing over ISDN lines (H320).  Peripheral medical devices, such as an image illuminator, can be purchased and integrated into the video conferencing unit to show radiology images, slides, and other medical information.  A minimum of one BRI line (ISDN) wil be required for most services.  Greater bandwidth is required for more complex interactions.

Service Price Structure
The session price varies based on the complexity of the program.
