Cultural Competency Program

"No culture can live if it attempts to be exclusive"
- Mahatma Ghandi

The Changing Face of Health Care

Globalization has brought new challenges to health care. Cultural, ethnic, linguistic and economic differences affect how people access and use health and social services. These differences can present barriers to effective health care education and interventions. Demographic, regulatory and accreditation mandates - along with a growing emphasis on quality, safety and patient satisfaction - have begun to push health care providers toward more culturally competent services.

A culturally competent organization values its people, understands the community in which it operates and embraces its diverse clientele. Learning and exhibiting cultural competence maximizes an organization's chances that its multicultural workplace will be productive, efficient and harmonious. It also empowers organizations to respond effectively to the cultural and linguistic needs that emerge during the health care experience.

Our Mission
The Cultural Competence Program helps health care organizations to provide quality care to diverse patient populations through services that are culturally competent. Integrating cultural competency into an organization's core values aids in reducing health disparities and improving satisfaction and loyalty among patients and staff.

Our Services
The Cultural Competency Program provides assessments and training sessions that are hands-on, application-based and practical. We support organizations and health leaders so that they can respond effectively to global diversity and interact skillfully with individuals from other cultural backgrounds. And we help their employees develop interpersonal and professional skills that increase their respect for the different values, lifestyles and beliefs that influence health care delivery.
